This year Outdoor Master has the pleasure of sponsoring Catawba Ridge Riders (CRR) youth Cycling Team, based in Fort Mill, South Carolina.

Catawba Ridge Riders (CRR) 501 3c Catawba Ridge Riders is a youth focused cycling team in South Carolina. CRR’s mission is to introduce more kids to mountain biking and develop qualified coaches. Since its inception in 2018, CRR has maintained interscholastic race teams exceeding 50 riders, and over a dozen volunteer coaches.

CRR is the umbrella organization for three High School based teams in the newly formed South Carolina Interscholastic Cycling League (SCICL). Prior to the SCICL founding, Catawba Ridge Riders would travel to NC and participate in the North Carolina Interscholastic Cycling League (NCICL) League.  CRR’s main mission is to build the cycling community by introducing new riders to mountain biking, other cycling disciplines (Olympic track, bmx), adventure riding, and racing.   Catawba Ridge Riders youth riders are very active outside of SCICL, and are competitive in local and national USAC cycling events.

The South Carolina Interscholastic Cycling League (SCICL) was founded in 2018 as a non-profit (501(c)3) Emergent League of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). The SCICL is the first official state cycling in South Carolina. SCICL is a half-year competitive racing program for cyclists between 12-18 years old (6th through 12th grades). SCICL's mission is to promote and develop youth sports through cycling by educating and engaging students of all ages in a fun and competitive environment.

NICA's mission is to promote the development of high school bicycling teams throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico by providing competition, education, and resources for its member leagues. Founded in 1986, NICA has grown into a multi-state organization with dozens of member leagues across the United States and Canada. Since 2015, NICA has expanded into Mexico and currently provides services to hundreds of schools in Mexico City and the surrounding states of Jalisco, Colima, Nayarit, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi, Sonora, Chihuahua, Michoacan, and Zacatecas.

The three teams that CRR enters in the SCICL League are York County Composite, Catawba Ridge High School, and Fort Mill High School. All three of these school based teams are located in York County.

Outdoor Master is a proud equipment sponsor of Catawba Ridge Riders and the interscholastic racing teams they support. OM’s mountain bike helmets and sunglasses are worn by many of their top youth riders and lead coaches.

"We were excited to support the development of interscholastic mountain bike riding and racing in South Carolina. Catawba Ridge Riders youth cycling program develops enthusiastic, community minded riders and racers. These young adults, and their families embody OMs mission to make the outdoors accessible and affordable.
