Lara Wolf is an Austrian freeskier who has quickly made a name for herself in the international skiing circuit. She’s achieved a lot so far in her career, finishing 14th in the 2022 China Olympic Winter Games Freeski Slopestyle, 21st in the 2022 China Olympic Winter Games Freeski Bigair and 3rd in the 2022 France World Cup Freeski Slopestyle. Lara definitely isn’t a slopepoke when it comes to skiing.
She fell in love with skiing when she was two years old after her parents took her to a ski resort near their home in Austria. At first, Lara competed as an Alpine Racer, but at 10, she was introduced to Free skiing, and she has never looked back since! When she's not competing or practicing for competitions, Lara enjoys her downtime on the field training with a fantastic football team in Kappl, her hometown.
Growing up, it was typical for Lara to ski in the Winter, but this routine sparked a love for the sport she developed over the next several years and eventually became her passion. For her, "It is amazing being in nature, in the white, to breathe fresh air and feel freedom and peace!" When asked about her goals in the sport, she replied, "I'd like to promote the female freeskiing sport. I want to ski at my best and keep going, pushing myself, and learning. Sure, the Olympics and X Games are goals for me, but above all, I want to ski with a smile on my face and do my best."
As a new Outdoor Master Ambassador, Lara is excited to work with new partners who will provide valuable resources to enhance her training and expand her knowledge as a skier. "It's something very special to me. My goggles and helmets have never been sponsored, so it means a lot to me to have a MIPS helmet. I enjoy wearing different goggles all the time, and with Outdoor Master by my side, I can wear so many different goggles because Outdoor Master ski goggles’ selection is vast!"
Lara's favorite tricks now include the front flip and 720 or 360 blunt. She continues to hone her skills and refine her style to become a better athlete and one day complete the double front flip, just like her motto says, "Never give up."
Her number one tip for new snowboarders?
"It is difficult to begin a sport like this, but once you do, you will feel the happiness and love that overcomes you when you ski. Continue to push and stay focused. I know it's difficult to stay focused, but practice makes perfect!"
Lara's number one snack when practicing?
"I always travel with a power bar; it's simple to bring and delicious. But I also enjoy the fries served at mountain restaurants."
